The "Nicolae Bălcescu" Memorial Museum is dedicated to the memory of the great revolutionary and man of culture Nicolae Bălcescu, one of the most important figures of the 1848 Revolution in Romania. The museum's permanent exhibition is focused on his life, work, and contributions, offering visitors the opportunity to discover various objects that reflect his involvement in the revolutionary movement, as well as his work as a historian, writer, and diplomat. These items also provide insight into the social and cultural life of his time.
The Village Museum of Vâlcea is an open-air ethnographic museum that promotes the traditions, customs, and lifestyle of peasants from the Vâlcea region. The museum features a vast collection of traditional houses, farmsteads, outbuildings, and workshops, all brought from different areas of Vâlcea County and meticulously reconstructed to illustrate rural life. Each home is furnished and equipped with household items, farming tools, and other elements specific to the peasant way of life.
The "Simian House" Art Museum is a significant cultural landmark in Râmnicu Vâlcea, housed in a historic building with remarkable architecture. The Fortified Manors from Măldărești are specific to the Oltenia region and were built to protect noble families from Ottoman invasions. The complex includes “Cula Greceanu”, considered the oldest in Romania, and “Cula Duca”, both representative for the traditional defensive architecture of the region. Alongside them, the I.G. Duca Memorial House adds a cultural and historical dimension, making the ensemble an important tourist and historical site in Vâlcea County.
