The salt mine in Ocnele Mari is a popular tourist attraction that offers visitors a unique underground experience, with a vast area of approximately 40,000 square meters to explore and numerous opportunities for leisure activities in a healthy environment.
Located in the salty depths of the Earth, at a depth of 29 meters from the entry point of the access gallery, the mine maintains a constant temperature (13–15°C) throughout the year, which is one of the reasons it is so sought after, along with the saline aerosols that help prevent and treat various respiratory conditions, such as asthma, bronchitis, or allergies. These aerosols also support immunity boosting and improved digestive function.
Among the tourist attractions inside the mine are the impressive salt sculptures, which include religious representations, historical figures, and other artistic works that highlight the natural beauty of the salt. The mine also houses a place of worship where visitors can find peace and reflection, decorated with icons and other elements carved in salt, creating an atmosphere of tranquility and spirituality. Additionally, the salt mine features playgrounds and recreational areas, as well as sports fields, offering a complete experience for tourists who choose to visit.
